Business briefs - Foundation helps green Bridgeport

The Bridgeport Regional Business Council has added support and money for the BGreen 2020 initiative from the Fairfield County Community Foundation.

BGreen 2020 is Bridgeport's sustainability initiative involving more than 100 community members, local businesses, and civic leaders in charting a course that will result in economic growth that improves local environmental quality. The program will tackle ways to reduce carbon emissions from city operations, improve recycling and generate clean power.

Banks meet with distressed borrowers START Now, a group tackling foreclosure in the Stamford area, has organized another counseling event in Stamford.

Six financial institutions, nonprofit groups and state agency workers will meet with distressed borrowers to discuss options from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Yerwood Center, 90 Fairfield Ave.

Participating financial institutions are Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Webster Bank, People's United Bank, New Alliance Bank and Freedom Mortgage. The Connecticut Housing Finance Authority and several charitable institutions working to help homeowners also will be there, including the Housing Development Fund.
