We’re looking for Volunteers!

Volunteering for HDF can be a valuable and rewarding experience. Our volunteers engage in a number of projects in our lending, development and communications, data, and/or administrative departments that are catered to their unique skill sets. We currently have volunteer opportunities in our Stamford, Bridgeport, and Danbury offices.

Please email John Chamberlain at jchamberlain@hdf-ct.org if you are interested in becoming a part of our team.

Support Our Cause

Your contributions are critical for keeping our services FREE and available to thousands of families who seek our help every year. By supporting HDF, you provide a lifeline not just to us, but to them.

Our counselors, loan officers, and other staff members work directly with homebuyers and tenants, developers and property owners, policy makers and business leaders across the state, every day, to ensure that every resident has a decent, affordable, secure place to live.

That work is not profitable, nor is it meant to be. We depend on grants and individual contributions from the people, foundations, and businesses of our region to keep our services broadly available to the thousands of people who call on us for help, and the thousands more who will do so this year and next.

No one should have to choose between food and rent. Home should not be a place that lasts only until the next medical emergency or the next spike in heating costs. Housing is not a luxury.

HDF’s track record as the leader in affordable housing in southwestern Connecticut offers corporations and organizations an effective mechanism to reinforce their commitment to building strong communities. Leveraging HDF’s impeccable reputation, experience and credibility, sponsors associate their brand with a trusted community partner. Event partners receive a meaningful array of opportunities for visibility and promotion.

May 27, 2015 will be our next Opening Doors to Opportunity Benefit Breakfast, featuring Keynote Speaker James Olson, Former CIA Chief of Counterintelligence, stories of HDF’s impact, an exciting raffle and great opportunities to network and connect with leaders in the Stamford community. This is a unifying event for resident, business and government leaders who have made significant contributions to promoting affordable homeownership.

Visit our 6th Annual Breakfast page today to learn more about event sponsorship opportunities.

Planned gifts provide the resources to preserve the future of the Housing Development Fund, while making an immediate and lasting difference by promoting sustainable homeownership. Planned gifts are best set up with assistance from your professional advisors. Unlike cash donations, they are typically made from assets in your estate rather than disposable income, and come to fruition upon your death.

The most common planned gift is a bequest in your will or living trust. Other planned gifts include:

  • gift of stock or retirement plan assets
  • an interest in life insurance policies
  • a remainder interest in your home

A misconception is that planned giving is only for the wealthy, while the truth is that even people of modest means can make a difference through planned giving. Email HDF today to learn more about our planned giving program.

Impact of Giving

Whatever the amount of your gift, please know that you are giving others the key to a better life for themselves and their families. A gift in any amount is greatly appreciated – thank you for supporting the Housing Development Fund!

We Thank You for Your Generosity!

Your gift to HDF’s annual fund will help us fulfill our mission to make safe, affordable housing available to all families in Connecticut and beyond. Support from kind givers like you has allowed our dedicated staff to help thousands of households learn about how to not only buy their first home, but how to keep a home through the years.

Our free counseling services are possible because of your generosity. As we look to the years ahead, we hope that we can count on your support to grow our impact, continue to strengthen our products and services, and to explore how we can best bring more hardworking families home.
